Adding to our language services team

We’re proud to welcome two new members to the U.S. Translation Company team. Taylor Hahn, who used to work for TransPerfect, recently signed on as our Business Development Manager for the Western United States. Karen Stevens is our new Translation & Localization Manager. We’ll let each of them introduce herself in her own words.

About Karen Stevens

I recently moved to Salt Lake City from San Diego, CA, where I worked as an Operations Manager for the QA department of a market research company. I also did some work as a freelance translator and a Dutch teacher and currently volunteer teaching ESL. I’ve always had a passion for language, travel, and different cultures, so I am extremely excited to work at US Translation Company, where I get to work with languages every day.

I have a master’s degree in Linguistics and Literature (English and Swedish) and speak Dutch (native language), French, English, and Swedish. I have a basic understanding of Spanish and German. I am originally from Belgium but have also lived in Sweden, Iceland, and Southern California.

I met my American husband in Reykjavik, Iceland – where I was studying the Icelandic language and culture – and moved to the US in the summer of 2007. I love spending time in nature, mainly hiking and camping, and at the beach. I like to swim, read, watch movies, eat, and cook for people. Last fall, my husband and I took a 1.5-month road trip around the Southwest of the US with a 1964 camping trailer. We saw a lot of amazing national and state parks, cooked many delicious meals on a tiny stove, and lit multiple campfires. It was a great experience.

About Taylor Hahn

I was born in California but raised in North Idaho – my family moved there when I was 9. I’m from a VERY small town nearly in Canada called Bonners Ferry. I love to hike, bike, and run, and have run two marathons: the 2010 San Francisco Marathon and the 2011 Boston Marathon.

I started my career at Pebble Beach in Monterey, CA in 2008 – worked as an Assistant Manager at the Spa at Pebble Beach for about a year then moved to Front Office Assistant Manager of the Lodge at Pebble Beach. Worked several ATT Pro-Am Tournaments and also the 2010 US Open.

After 3 years at Pebble Beach, I worked weddings and events at 2 different venues in Monterey. In 2013, I finally moved to Denver, and decided that I was good at and enjoyed sales but didn’t want to work in hospitality anymore. So I searched for sales jobs doing something that was interesting and that I would be interested in selling. I came across TransPerfect and there I landed! I’ve worked there since moving to Denver in June, 2013.

At TransPerfect, I mainly focused my efforts on the aerospace/defense industry and worked with companies such as DynCorp International, Lockheed Martin, General Dynamics, Raytheon, etc. Due to my growing relationship within Raytheon, just before leaving TransPerfect, I was sent an RFP from them and competed with nearly 25 other vendors to become Raytheon’s sole translation and interpretation provider. After 10 months of RFI’s, RFP’s, multiple legal and contractual negotiations, I (we) won the RFP to be Raytheon’s sole provider. While I accomplished other things at TransPerfect, this was my “claim to fame,” and I’m so looking forward to accomplishing these types of victories and MORE here at USTC!
