Localizing the life sciences
A Discussion with David Utrilla
U.S. Translation CEO David Utrilla gave a presentation at this month’s LocWorld localization conference in Barcelona. The discussion centered around the need for specific localization expertise in the life sciences. Utrilla argued that, given the low margin for error and the significant technical insider knowledge base, a localization generalist is inadequate for the task.
Biomedical research, medical device engineering, pharmaceutical manufacturing, clinical trials: each of the many life sciences domains has its own vocabulary and technical terminology and requires a translator fluent in both the relevant specialization and the source and target languages.
The presentation was well received, and Utrilla received numerous kudos from his peers in the translation and localization industry.
